What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
Think of a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) like a savings account for charitable giving. A DAF makes it easy for you to support the organizations you care about while combining favorable tax advantages.
It’s like a piggy bank with benefits.
A DAF can be established through a financial institution, or you can establish it directly through a community foundation or non-profit organization.
Regardless of where you set it up, contributions to a donor-advised fund are tax deductible, just like if you were making a cash donation directly to a non-profit. After establishing your DAF, you can recommend how much (and how often) you want to distribute money from the DAF to Clean Water Fund, or any other organization you choose.
Please contact your financial advisor for detailed information on donor advised funds.
Ready to Make or Recommend a Grant?
Clean Water Fund* welcomes grants and donations from donor-advised funds (DAFs), community foundations, and family or private foundations. We are grateful for the trust, partnership and financial support that come with these kinds of gifts.
Please reach out to our team at development@cleanwater.org and let us know how we can help you plan or arrange a grant. We are standing by to provide tax-exempt documentation, ACH or e-check payment information, application forms, or proposal materials.
You can use the “DAF Direct” tool below to jump start a gift from your Donor-Advised Fund!
* Most foundations and DAFs have policies prohibiting gifts to 501(c)(4) non-profits like Clean Water Action. In most cases, the recipient must be a 501(c)(3) like Clean Water Fund. However, some foundations and DAF managers may allow gifts to Clean Water Action. Please contact us if you would like to explore this possibility.
