Washington DC — Clean Water Action announced a planned leadership transition where Jeff Carter, President and CEO, will step down from his role effective at the end of the year, following a mutual decision where all parties agreed that this is the right time for a transition in leadership.

Carter will continue to serve through the end of the year to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition.

“Jeff Carter has provided dedicated service and helped strengthen our organization’s ability to make a difference,” said Kate Koeze, Chair of the Board of Directors for Clean Water Action. “ We are grateful for Jeff’s commitment and for all he has done to advance our mission.”

The Board affirmed its confidence in the organization’s strong management team and active governance structure, which will guide operations during the transition and while a shift in long-term leadership strategy is implemented.

Jeff Carter shared, “It has been an honor to lead Clean Water Action and to work alongside so many passionate people who care deeply about our work. I look forward to supporting a smooth transition and celebrating the continued success of this incredible organization.” Further updates on the leadership transition will be shared as they become available.
