Clean Water Action is proud to announce our endorsement in the November 4th general election of David Wecht, Kevin Dougherty, and Christine Donahue for retention to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court!
These justices have applied their legal experience and judicial temperament to vital majority rulings over the last decade. This includes decisions that:
- Reinvigorated the Environmental Rights Amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution while empowering municipalities to decide where industrial operations can occur.
- Protected accessibility to voting through ensuring that all votes cast were counted as well as affirming policies that extended deadlines for absentee ballots and allowed for addition ballot drop boxes to be set up.
- Ensured greater fairness with Pennsylvania’s congressional maps by ruling that the maps drawn in 2018 were gerrymandered and ordering that new maps be created to not only divide the state’s voters into districts that are contiguous and have equal populations, which federal law already requires, but into districts that also avoid intentionally dividing political jurisdictions (i.e., counties and municipalities).
Prior to their time on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court:
- Christine was a civil trial lawyer and litigator and elected to The Superior Court of Pennsylvania
- David was also an elected justice on The Superior Court of Pennsylvania and before that a Judge on The Court of Common Pleas for Pennsylvania’s Fifth Judicial District
- Kevin was an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia and then elected to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
Please help us retain David Wecht, Kevin Dougherty, and Christine Donahue on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court by making sure you vote “YES” on November 4th!
