Maryland Voter Registration Information
You can register to vote:
- Online using Maryland's Online Voter Registration System if you have a Maryland State Issued Driver's License or ID Card
- By submitting a printed voter registration application to your local board of elections or the State Board Of Elections.
- In-person at several locations, including local Department of Health offices, MVA offices, institutes of higher education, and more.
- During Early Voting at a center in your county, with proof of residency (see below)
- On Election Day at your polling place, with proof of residency (see below)
Accepted proof of residency for early voting or election day voter registration: MVA-issued license, ID card, or change of address card, or your paycheck, bank statement, utility bill, or other government document with your name and new address.

Mail-in Ballots
Maryland voters can choose to vote by Mail-in Ballot without needing a reason to do so. You may request your ballot to be mailed to you, or choose to download and print your ballot yourself.
You must apply for a Mail-in or Absentee Ballot in one of the following ways:
- Using Maryland's online system if you have a Maryland State Issued Driver's License or ID Card
- Filling out a paper application and returning it in-person or by email to your local board of elections office
You can also be added to the Permanent Mail-in Ballot List to receive a ballot for each future election you are eligible to vote in automatically, without filling out an application, if you are sure you will not want to vote during early voting or on election day.
Mail Ballot Application Deadline, to be Sent By Mail: Received on Tuesday one full week before Election Day.
Mail Ballot Application Deadline, to be Downloaded/Printed: Received by 5pm the Friday before Election Day if sent in the mail, or 11:59 if the application is submitted by fax or online. Only the application can be submitted by fax or online - see below for mail-in ballot return options.
Mail Ballot Application Deadline, Delivered In-person to Your Local Board Of Elections: Before close on Election Day.

Cast Your Vote
You can cast your vote in Maryland:
- Mail-in Ballot, returned by mail postmarked no later than election day and received by your local board of elections 10 days after election day by 10am
- Mail-in Ballot, dropped off to a ballot drop box in your county or hand delivered to your local board of elections or an early voting center
- Early Voting at a center in your county
- At Your Polling Place on election day
