Yale Environmental Fellow

Krista Vanderpuye is a first-generation Ghanaian American who grew up in Burke, Virginia. She graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.S. in Environmental Health and is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health, concentrating in the Environment, Climate, and Health. Her academic path is driven by a passion for environmental health equity and a commitment to uplifting communities of color.

Outside the classroom, Krista serves as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Warren County Lead-Free Homes project. This is a community-based participatory research study in Warren County, North Carolina that focuses on whole-home lead testing using low-cost strips and youth engagement. Krista is joining Clean Water Action on the National Campaigns Team as a Yale Environmental Fellow for the summer.
