New England Zero Waste Specialist
Amber Schmidt is the New England Zero Waste Organizer for Clean Water Action’s Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island offices. Her work in this role focuses on three main areas: reducing single-use disposable foodware, food waste diversion from landfills and incinerators, and zero-waste policy. This trifecta of programs brings her work into many different sectors including schools, restaurants, and event and community spaces.
Amber is an avid gardener and practices zero-waste at home making her own deodorant, lip balms, and preserving and canning food from her garden. She is a proud dog-mom to Gator and loves to take him hiking and swimming. She lives in Rhode Island and is a classic New Englander, loves seafood, the ocean, and of course, fighting for democracy. She has been organizing in the non-profit environmental movement for over 15 years and enjoys bringing her lifelong passion to end toxic, fossil fuel-driven plastic pollution to her job every day.
